ACE server clients - problem revisited
Thursday has been quite the day for us here and our clients on the ACE server. Those that have submitted help tickets have been updated throughout the day.
Long story short, we had one client on the server that had a program on their web site that was writing badly to the server through mySQL to the point it was shutting down the server. To keep everyone online that does not use a database, we quickly shut down mySQL across the board on this particular server. Those that have an html or php site not using mySQL, simply stayed online with no issue. Those that are using a program as their whole site (ie: cart, message board, etc) were down with an error message that their database was not connected.
Rather than waste more time scouring through to see who the culprit database was, we moved clients one by one to yet another server clusted with ACE so again, we had no site downtime to see what program it was as we moved each.
The problem we ran into was that cpanel decided to release the cpanel 11 version to us while we were using version 10. Version 10 and 11 do not communicate well with one another so we had to manually move each and every client and all contents which was very time consuming. This is why it took all 5 of us almost all day to do.
Cpanel 11 is something that we've personally waited excitedly on for a long time, but new things do not come without some quirks that cause us extra work. When you now login to your control panels you will see it looks different along with some new things.
For now, please login to your control panels if you are using any databases and re-add your database users + passwords the same as they are set in each config file of any program you are running. Do not forget to also give permission to those database users to that specified database and you are done. This will take minutes to do.
If you have a site that does not have a shopping cart, message board, links directory, poll, etc., then you have to do nothing. Your site is fine.
As of 1am EST, we still have about another hour to run some backups. If you can get in - go ahead. If you cannot, please wait and recheck it within a few minutes.
If you need more help - submit a help ticket.
Thank you!
