Your site hacked? Part 2
Update:
We are working through the night. What we've found is that an amateur, nuissance hacker has accessed various sites and loaded a mini-script that rewrites all index pages and even any files with the word index in it. So if you had an index88.gif image (an example), it was written to now be a hacker page.
Rather than take the time consuming pace of a turtle to go through every site or even simply reload backups and load back in the problem script, we're putting new servers online and going to load backups there that have no hacker content to bring with it. We have backups from 10/22/09 that we will be using.
I know that you all are very eager to get your sites back online and many have already by loading your backups. See why I always say it's a priority to keep a backup of your own sites? For those of you that have your sites back online, I give you a big thumbs up! For those that have sites that have multiple folders, programs with excessive folders, rest assured we are working on this through the night.
I've trusted our servers and our datacenter's high level of security and professionalism for years now to where I even host my very own sites on the same servers that you all are on. This is our first time experiencing this and we will get through it. I know it's stressful, but I also believe things happen for a reason. Our reason must be to teach us to run backups on our own sites more frequently. I hope.
I'll continue to update, but I have to work on getting this all taken care of. We all are.
Thank you again for your patience.
