New Scam Emails ..... Be On Alert!
There are a few new scam emails cropping up these days. Remember to NEVER click on an attachment in any email unless you are sure you know where it came from. Here are some of the latest:
Subject: Microsoft Outlook Notification
The email will ask you to open an attachment It states: You have (6) New Message from Outlook Microsoft
- Please re-configure your Microsoft Outlook Again.
- Download attached setup file and install.
Answer: Do not open the attachment. It contains a zip file that contains a virus.
Subject: You've received an ecard!
The email will ask you to either open an attachment or click through a link to view your card.
Answer: Do not do either. They are both viruses.
Subject: DHL Could Not Deliver
The email states: The courier company was not able to deliver your parcel by your address.
Cause: Error in shipping address.
You may pickup the parcel at our post office personaly!
Please note!
The shipping label is attached to this e-mail.
Please print this label to get this package at our post office.
Thank you for attention.
DHL Express Services.
Answer: Outside the obvious typos in that email, they are instructing you to open an attachment which is once again, a zip file which contains a virus. Any shipping agent is not going to contact you through email without giving you specific information. Delete!
Subject: The settings for your email have been changed
The email states: Dear user of the thedesignshoppe.com mailing service!
We are informing you that because of the security upgrade of the mailing service your mailbox (julie@thedesignshoppe.com) settings were changed. In order to apply the new set of settings click on the following link:

Best regards, thedesignshoppe.com Technical Support.
Answer: Do not click through the link because it will release a virus on to your computer. No one sends out emails about a mailing service like this and you do not need to "apply any settings". If you are concerned about your email accounts, login to your control panel and check them out yourself. If you are still unsure, simply fill out a help ticket and we'll be happy to look into this.
